Goal: Continue attracting 1x1 clients to her growing waitlist through quality podcast interviews

BACKGROUND

Before Erica Courdae was a client, she was a friend -- one that always pushed me to weave diversity, equity, and inclusion within how I operate my agency. So, of course, I was delighted when she reached out to ask if I could pitch her to be on podcasts.

She had seen a lot of success with using podcast guesting as a way to attract new 1x1 clients to her already growing waitlist, and she wanted to keep that momentum going.

My goal? Secure interviews on mid- and top-tier shows that have at least 50+ reviews on Apple Podcasts.

MY STRATEGY

Erica was eager to build out her waitlist while also raising her profile to get more speaking engagements on her calendar, so I created specific criteria about the caliber of shows I would reach out to. The shows had to have 50+ reviews on Apple Podcasts, their combined social media following had to be at least 20k, and they needed to be an influencer with a deep network.

What’s more, I leveraged her experience as a brick-and-mortar salon owner and paired it with her DEI advice and her personal narrative of being a Black mother to biracial children. That gave her a unique perspective that other DEI consultants couldn’t offer.
